Introduction to Xero

This 2 hour seminar supports the ATO’s requirements for improving the quality of BAS reporting and covers:

 

  • Exploring the main processing dashboard.
  • Inputting sales and expense transactions in order to investigate the financial reports. This has a particular focus on GST compliance reporting (BAS), using exception reports.
  • Common errors.

We also encourage you to raise any organisation-specific requirements you may have, as we tailor the seminar to meet individual needs.

The Xero computer application is a cloud system, which is the future for recording accounting transactions. The following is covered in this unit:

  • Getting Started
    • Set up new organisations, Xero Dashboard and menu tour
  • Settings
    • Your set up and options like Chart of Accounts, organisation settings, currencies, balances, pay items, billing and log in information, users
  • Banking
    • Bank accounts, cash transactions, pay run, import statements, reconcile accounts, get automated bank or PayPal feeds
  • Sales invoices and bills
    • Enter bills, raise invoices, send statements and credit notes and keep track of payments
  • Expense Claims
    • Personal spending that the company owes you and your employees
  • Sales Tax
    • Financial settings, tax rate settings, tax returns
  • Reports & Budget
    • Financial and business reports, budget, tracking (cost centres)
  • Contacts
    • Your customers and suppliers
  • Work with your financial adviser
    • Fixed assets, depreciation, manual journals, lock dates, annual and management reporting
